CHICAGO – Former Towson University tight end may make his National Football League (NFL) debut tomorrow, being elevated by the Las Vegas Raiders from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game.
Runyon was a non-drafted free agent signing by the Raiders, making six catches for 74 yards in the preseason games. He was assigned to the practice squad following the preseason games.
If Runyon plays tomorrow, he will be the first Towson Tiger to play in the NFL since Tye Smith competed for the Tennessee Titans in 2021. If he makes a catch, he will be the first Towson Tiger with an offensive reception in the NFL since Terrance West with the Baltimore Ravens in 2017.
Runyon spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons with Towson, earning All-America recognition each year by the
Associated Press and STATS Perform. The two-time All-Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) tight end was Towson's leader in receptions each of the last two seasons, tallying up 88 catches, 1,051 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns in his two years with the Black & Gold. Following the 2024 season, he played in each the prestigious Hula Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl.
The Raiders will take on the Chicago Bears in the Windy City tomorrow (9/28) at 4:25 p.m. ET.
