Davey Scores as Towson Falls to Hofstra

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University women's soccer team fell in the last home game of the season to Hofstra 5-1 Thursday afternoon at the Tiger Soccer Complex.

Christiana Davey scored her third goal of the season for Towson (3-13-1, 0-8-0 CAA) during the second half of the match. Hofstra (12-3-2, 6-0-2 CAA) scored all five goals during the second half of the game.

How it Happened
  • Defense stepped in big for Towson during the first half as Hofstra took eight shots by five different sources.
  • Sabrina Bryan took three shots and Lucy Potter took one which was saved by Towson's goalkeeper Delaney Mitchell.
  • Mitchell had three saves going into the half.
  • At the 54 minute mark, Briana Stabile took the first shot for Towson but Hofstra's goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich had the save.
  • Sabrina Bryan passed the ball to Miri Taylor who scored for Hofstra at the 57 minute mark to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Two minutes later Lucy Porter scored and gave Hofstra a 2-0 lead.
  • At the 60 minute mark Hofstra took a 3-0 lead after a penalty kick by Lucy Porter.
  • Towson countered back with a header attempt by Monica Scagllione but Kuzmich had the save.
  • Two minutes later at the 66 minute mark Christiana Davey crossed the ball to Madison Carr for another header attempt but Kuzmich had the save.
  • Sabrina Bryan passed the ball to Alia Mentzell for the fourth goal for the Pride.
  • Towson cut into the lead (4-1) after Moriah Wigley served the ball to Davey who scored to the left side of the goal.
  • Justine Stoner had a shot at the top of the box but it went high.
  • Nikki Logan had a shot at the 81 minute mark but it went wide left.
  • Hofstra's Mentzell scored after a cross from Sam Diamond and took a 5-1 lead with three minutes left to play.

  • Hofstra out-shot Towson 16-7.
  • Hofstra took a total of six corner kicks while Towson did not take any.
