TOWSON, Md. – Former professional player and University of Oregon standout Danny Pulfer has joined the Towson University baseball team as the volunteer assistant coach, starting in the 2020 season.
 
Pulfer will work with the Towson fielders, especially with the infielders, and assist with the team's hitting.
 
"I am extremely honored to become a part of the Towson baseball coaching staff," said Pulfer. "I believe I am exactly where I need to be and when I need to be here. I am incredibly grateful that Coach Tyner has given me this opportunity. I am excited to learn from a man of such knowledge. I am also looking forward to working alongside Miles Miller and Tanner Biagini. Everyone has made me feel right at home, which has been a very comforting feeling.  Proud to become a member of a university with such tradition. Cannot wait for the season to begin! Roar Tigers!"

Pulfer was a 19^th round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2011, hitting .271 with 32 walks in two seasons in the minor league ranks.  He also played four years in the American Association, including two-and-a-half years with the Gary South Shore Railcats and one-and-a-half with the Laredo Lemurs, hitting over .279 in his first three seasons in the league and combining for 58 doubles.
 
He has been part of several championship teams across numerous levels, including with Laredo in 2015, Gary in 2013, the 2012 Missoula Osprey in the Pioneer League and the 2009 Rochester Honkers in the Northwoods League.
 
He served as a hitting instructor at XCEL from 2018-19 while also being the head coach of the 11-14-year-old Monarchs baseball team.  Pulfer worked as an assistant coach and strength & conditioning coach for Edison High softball from 2017-18, for Marina High from 2015-17 and for the Firecrackers travel softball team from 2016-19.
 
He is the CEO and President of Turn It Up Performance Development, a non-profit organization which develops young athletes and improve their speed, agility, and overall athleticism, according to its mission statement.
 
He played college baseball at the University of Oregon from 2009-11, hitting .302 as a three-year starter, including .351 in his final season with the Ducks to earn First Team All-Pac 10 and honorable mention all-conference in 2010.  He finished in the top-50 in sacrifice bunts in his last two years, tallying 62 walks and 97 runs in his collegiate career.  He currently stands in the top-10 in Oregon history in at-bats, games started, runs scored, hits, doubles, walks, hit-by-pitches, on-base percentage and multi-hit games.
 
Pulfer graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in political science in 2013.
