Richardson Honored at Annual TeamUpFor1 Gala

HUNT VALLEY, Md. – Saturday night Towson University women's basketball head coach Diane Richardson was honored by the organization TeamUpFor1 at the organization's annual gala hosted at Valley Mansion in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

Richardson was one of five women in sports that were celebrated at the fourth-annual Sports Leadership Awards, alongside Kimmie Meissner, Becca Meyers, Janine Tucker and Eboni Preston-Laurent.

"I am so thrilled to be honored by such a tremendous organization," Richardson said. "Its mission is a win-win situation for all involved. Our teams have been truly blessed through the opportunities to work with children with challenges."

TeamUpFor1 is an organization based in Maryland with a mission to "enhance the quality of life for children with physical and developmental disabilities, chronic and life-threatening illnesses and economic hardship."

The program is "Connecting Children with Challenges to the Experience of Team Sports" at all levels including high school, collegiate and professional.

Last year the Tigers' partnership with TeamUpFor1 led to the team adoption of a young girl named Eden. With the program Eden came to practices, games and team events.
