Richmond, Va. – On Tuesday, the Towson University men's swimming and diving senior
Matt Essing was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Divers of the Week for the first time this season.
Will Canny was named CAA Men's Diver of the Week for the third time this season.
Essing helped the Tigers finish third in the Bucknell Invitational after having two first-place finishes, two second-place finishes and a couple of third place finishes. He first was on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay that had a time of 1:20.99. He also finished first in 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.07.
The team tied for second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:01.55 and they finished second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:30.47. The Tigers also saw a third-place finish with him swimming anchor in the 100-yard freestyle (45.00) and the 800-yard freestyle relay finished in fifth with a time of 6:54.67.
Canny also helped the Tigers finish third overall in the Bucknell Invitational after finishing in third in the 3-meter dive (282.55) and fifth in the 1-meter dive with a score of 259.80.
Towson will be back in action on Saturday Jan. 18, when they travel to Philadelphia to compete against Drexel.
