RICHMOND, Va. – The Towson University baseball team (3-15) had to prepare for a game moved up in time due to incoming bad weather in the area, falling to VCU (15-6) 6-0 on Wednesday night.
The game was mainly a pitching duel for the first five innings, with
Dallas Repine and
Cam Clark holding the Rams to one run. VCU held Towson off the scoreboard and broke away with multiple runs in the sixth and eighth.
Key Stats:
- Colin Conroy had a great game in his return to the lineup, hitting 3-for-3 from the five-spot of the lineup. Javon Fields also reached base three times, going 2-for-3 with a walk.
- Despite the defeat, Dallas Repine (0-3) had a strong start, going three innings with one run allowed and two strikeouts. The Towson pitching staff of Repine, Cam Clark, Jake Pecilunas and Connor Coyle allowed a combined two earned runs.
- For VCU, Hogan Brown was 1-for-3 from the leadoff spot with a walk, two runs and two RBI, while Liam Hibbits went 2-for-4 with a run. The win was credited to Danny Watson (2-0), who had two innings of scoreless relief.
How it Happened:
- VCU got on the board in the bottom of the first, getting Hogan Brown home on a Paul Witt single, for a 1-0 lead.
- Dallas Repine recovered and pitched a scoreless second and third. Cam Clark entered and did not allow a run in the fourth.
- Towson threatened in the top of the fifth, with Colin Conroy's second hit and Trey Martinez getting hit by a pitch putting first and second with one out. A line drive to second turned double play ended the inning without a run.
- VCU scored twice in the bottom of the sixth with a couple of RBI hits to take a 3-0 lead.
- The Tigers got the tying run to the plate in the eighth with Fields and Brad Powers on base, but again could not score. VCU added three runs in the bottom half of the inning to go up 6-0, the eventual final score.

Towson will now prepare for the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) opener, hosting UNC Wilmington at Schuerholz Park on Friday, March 22
