Towson falls to George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – Nicole Stockinger hit her 33rd career home run for the Towson University softball team during a non-conference doubleheader against  George Mason Wednesday night at GMU Softball Complex.

The Tigers fell 9-3 in the first game and dropped a 1-0 decision in the second game.

 

How it Happened Game 1

·         Kendall Arcia and Stockinger each had a hit for the Tigers.

·         Arcia's RBI single that scored Chloe Poulich tied the game, 2-2, in the fourth inning.

·         Stockinger homered for Towson in the top of the sixth inning.

·         Riley Thies, Arcia and Stockinger each had one run batted in for the Tigers.

·         George Mason combined to scored seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

How it Happened Game 2

·         The Tigers had five hits in the second game.

·         Thies and Stockinger had two hits each.

·         Stockinger led off the seventh with a single, but was stranded at third base to end the game.

·         Arcia had the Tigers other hit.

·         Arcia and Jaclyn Mounie had stolen bases for Towson.

·         Meghan Graham's  RBI single in the fifth inning was the difference.

Inside the Numbers

·         Stockinger has a seven-game hitting streak.

·         Stockinger had her eighth multi-hit game, tying her for the team lead.

·         Thies had her seventh multi-hit game.

Up Next

Towson will face conference opponent James Madison Saturday and Sunday, March 30-31. The Dukes are ranked 20th in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) top 25 poll. The game will be played in the Tigers Softball Stadium with the first pitch at noon. The series will serve as the alumnae weekend for Towson.
