Goodrich Named Senior CLASS Finalist

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas - Towson University senior defensive midfielder Zach Goodrich has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award.

Ten NCAA® lacrosse student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as finalists today for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award® for men's collegiate lacrosse. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be classified as NCAA Division I seniors and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of finalists follows this release.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their athletic platforms to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

The finalists were chosen by national media from the list of 30 candidates announced earlier this month. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the Senior CLASS Award website through May 20. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winners. The Senior CLASS Award recipient will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship® in May.

Goodrich has played in eight games this season, forcing eight turnovers while adding 19 ground balls. A threat in transition, Goodrich has five points on three goals and two assists. The Stevensville, Marylander has served just three minutes in penalties to date.

Goodrich is a three-time captain this spring, the first three-time captain in program history. He is well-respected both on the field and in the classroom.Goodrich has helped Towson become one of the top lacrosse programs in the country in the fight against cancer. He has worked closely to lead the team in its efforts with HEADstrong Foundation, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer organization, the ZERO Prostate Run and the Cool Kids Campaign, a local organization that helps regional families going through pediatric cancer.

Goodrich and the No. 10/No. 11 Tigers open CAA action on Saturday with a noon showdown against long-time rival Hofstra. The game will be the first half of a double header with the Towson women's team hosting Yale at 3 p.m.
