Woodall Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- After a dominating performance at the X, Towson University senior men's lacrosse student-athlete Alex Woodall has been selected as the CAA Player of the Week. The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) made the announcement Tuesday morning.

Woodall, who hails from Annapolis, Maryland, helped the then seventh-ranked Tigers knock off previously top-ranked Loyola 12-10 at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium, winning 20 of his 26 faceoffs (.769). The senior specialist won all 10 of his faceoffs in the final quarter to help the Tigers seal the win. He collected 14 ground balls, including one off the draw that led to the game-winning assist to Brody McLean.

On the season, Woodall has won 74.2 percent of his faceoffs, collecting 72 wins in 97 chances. He currently ranks third all-time in program history with 428 faceoff wins as a Tiger. To date, Woodall has grabbed 51 ground balls this season, surpassing the 10-ground ball mark in three of the four games this season.

Delaware's Tye Kurtz was selected as the CAA Rookie of the Week.

Wood and the No. 1 Tigers head to Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend for The Crown Lacrosse Event. Towson opens action Friday night with a 5:30 faceoff with Jacksonville, followed by a Sunday afternoon showdown against No. 3/No. 2 Cornell at 1 p.m.
