Tennis Wraps Regular Season With Three Matches

TOWSON, Md. – The 2019 regular season concludes for the Towson University tennis team this weekend with three nonconference games.
 
Beginning Saturday, April 13 the Tigers host Saint Joseph's at 2 p.m. and Sunday will be another home game with first serve against Bucknell at 1 p.m. Both home games will be played on the Towson Center courts. Sunday evening Towson will play Coppin State on the road.
 
The Tigers enter the weekend 11-12 after winning five of the last six. On Wednesday afternoon Towson traveled to Delaware for the final Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) game of the regular season, falling 4-3 to the Blue Hens.
 
Earlier this week the Tigers took a 4-3 win over Villanova at home, with the match-winner coming from Themis Haliou.
 
The Hawks come to town with a 2-15 overall record. Saint Joseph's will take on Duquesne at home on Friday afternoon. In the last meeting between these two teams, Towson won 6-1 on the road. The Tigers have defeated SJU in three of the last five meetings.
 
Bucknell enters the weekend 12-5 with wins over Howard, La Salle, Siena and Saint Joseph's. Before facing Towson, the Bison play Loyola in a Patriot League matchup in Maryland. The Tigers hold a 5-1 series lead over Bucknell since 2009. In 2017 Towson took a 5-0 shutout in Pennsylvania.
 
Sunday's regular season finale will be at Coppin State with first serve set for 3:30 p.m. The Eagles hold a 2-8 record and have lost the last five matches. On Saturday morning Coppin State plays Rider on the road before hosting the Tigers. Towson has won the last 12 meetings, dating back to 2005.
