TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team made their mark nationally and Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in the 2018-19 final statistical rankings.
The Tigers were among the top 100 nationally in some of categories while
Dennis Tunstall and
Brian Fobbs were ranked among the top 150 in individual statistical categories.
As a team, the Tigers were 32nd nationally in rebounding margin (5.0) and 37th in offensive rebounds per game (12.2). The Tigers also ranked 73rd in fewest turnovers and 94th in total rebounds (1,182), a total that was second in the CAA.

In addition to leading the CAA in rebounding margin and offensive rebounds per game, Towson also had the top-ranked field goal percentage defense (43.6). The Tigers were second in the CAA in rebounds per game (36.9) and third in scoring defense (71.7).
This was the fifth straight year that Towson led the CAA in rebounding margin: 2017-18 (5.3), 2016-17 (7.9), 2015-16 (7.2) and 2014-15 (8.7).
Individually, Fobbs and Tunstall, a pair of All-CAA selections, were ranked in several national statistical categories.
A second team All-CAA selection, Fobbs was 93rd in the NCAA in field goal attempts (457), 101st in field goals made (207), 112th in points per game (17.5) and 140th in total points scored (561). Fobbs finished fifth in the CAA in all of those categories. Fobbs was the only Tiger to start in all 32 games and his 561 points was tied for the 10th best single-season total in program history.
Fobbs was eighth in offensive rebounds per game (1.8), ninth in free-throw percentage (80.4), 11th in 3-point field goals made per game (2.0), 12th in field goal percentage (45.3), 14th in rebounding (5.9 rebounds per game) and 15th in defensive rebounding (4.0).

Tunstall, who was named to the All-CAA Defensive Team, was 59th nationally in offensive rebounds per game (2.88) and 124th in rebounds per game (9.9). He was third in the CAA in offensive rebounds and ninth in rebounds per game. In addition, Tunstall was third in the CAA in blocked shots per game (1.03) and total blocks (33). He was ninth in the conference in total rebounds (246) and 11th in defensive rebounds per game (4.81).
Meanwhile,
Nakye Sanders finished ninth in the CAA in blocked shots (0.6), 13th in offensive rebounds per game (1.5), and 15th in rebounding.
Tobias Howard was 12th in the CAA in 3-pointers made per game (1.8) and was 29th in scoring (10.2).
Fobbs, Tunstall, Sanders and Howard all return for the 2019-20 season Towson. Overall, the Tigers will return 86 percent of their scoring punch and 90 percent of their rebounding muscle from this season including their top three scorers and top three rebounders.
Towson's 2019-20 non-conference opponents and dates will be released later in the near future.
One highlight of the schedule that's already been announced is the Tigers' participation in Gildan Charleston Classic along with Buffalo, Missouri State, Xavier, Connecticut, Florida, Miami (Fla.), and Saint Joseph's from November 21-24 at the College of Charleston. Pairings for this tournament will be announced later.
