Softball Wins Series Over Hofstra

Hempstead, N.Y. – In extra innings the Towson University softball team concluded the series against Hofstra Sunday afternoon with back-to-back victories.

For the first time in Towson history the Tigers took a series at Bill Edwards Stadium winning game one 12-8 and game two 4-3.  

How it Happened-Game 1
  • Hofstra took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
  • The Tigers answered back by going up 3-0 in the top of the second after Madison Wilson singled to left field, scoring Gracyn Houmis and Jess Swistock.
  • Towson added three more runs in the top of the fourth after Riley Thies singled to center field and Nicole Stockinger singled to the pitcher advanced all the runners on base.
  • In the top of the fifth Towson had five more runs on three hits and had a 12-1 lead.
  • The Pride scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth and three runs including a homerun by Meghan Giordano in the bottom of the seventh (12-8).
  • Melissa Abrahamian pitched a complete game for the Tigers and had three strikeouts.
How it Happened-Game 2
  • The Pride took an early 3-0 lead after the first three innings.
  • The Tigers answered by adding two runs in the top of the fourth after Chloe Poulich singled to right field.
  • After Julia Smith-Harrington doubled to center field the Tigers tied the game 2-2.
  • In extra innings Towson took a 4-3 lead after Sara Johnson singled to right field.
  • Johnson pitched eight innings with seven strikeouts and improved to 11-7.
