TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team (3-24, 0-4 CAA) saw
Joe Enea throw five scoreless innings, the longest outing of his Tiger career, but fell to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) favorite Elon (17-13, 6-1 CAA) 9-1 in the series opener.
Towson was down 9-0 after the first four innings against CAA Preseason Pitcher of the Year Kyle Brnovich (3-3). Enea entered and kept Elon off the board the rest of the way, but Towson only got one run and could not get closer.
Key Stats:
- Trey Martinez reached base twice, going 1-for-2 with a walk. Dirk Masters scored the team's lone run in the seventh, ending 0-for-3 with a walk.
- Josh Seils (1-5) got the loss in his start with six runs, only five earned, in three innings. Joe Enea had five scoreless frames with seven strikeouts plus John Cranston had no runs in an inning thrown.
- For Elon, Ty Adcock and Jack Roberts each hit three-run home runs. Kyle Brnovich had the victory, going seven innings with a run and 10 strikeouts.
How it Happened:
- Elon struck in the opening inning with a three-run home run by Ty Adcock to lead, later adding a run on a sacrifice fly in the next inning to go up 4-0.
- In the top of the third with no out and two in scoring position, Noah Cabrera made a spectacular diving catch over his shoulder, doubling off the runner at second. Towson finished the inning without a run surrendered thanks to Cabrera's catch.
- Next inning saw Elon plate five, including a three-run home run by Jack Roberts, for a 9-0 advantage.
- With Joe Enea pitching well in relief, Towson got a run back in the bottom of the seventh as Dirk Masters scored on a wild pitch.

- With a walk in the fourth inning, Brad Powers has reached base in seven consecutive games.
