TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team opened its eight-game home stand with two wins Tuesday afternoon against Howard University.
The Tigers defeated the Bison 7-2 in game one of the afternoon before finishing the evening with a 6-4 victory in Tiger Softball Stadium.
How it Happened Game 1
· Towson took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second after a double by Jessica Swistock got the bats rolling for the Tigers.
· A single by Julia Jackson advanced runners on second and third giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
· Towson would seal the deal by adding two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning.
· Howard's Kalita Dennis hit a home run giving the Bison two runs in the top of the seventh.
· Sara Johnson struck out nine batters, including the last one of the game.
How it Happened Game 2
· The Tigers went on the board first with a home run by Madison Wilson.
· Then after a double by Chloe Poulich scored Julia Smith-Harrington Towson had an early two run lead.
· Howard answered back in the top of the second scoring one run.
· Towson regained the lead in the bottom of the second after Jackson reached base advancing Lindsey Toneygay.
· Howard added three runs in the top of the third after a double by Dennis.
· After Nicole Stockinger hit her 11th home run of the season in the bottom of the third the Tigers took a 5-4 lead.
· A single to center field by Swistock scored one more run for Towson and gave them the 6-4 final.
· Melissa Abrahamian pitched a complete game and had three strikeouts.
Inside the Numbers
· Stockinger hit her 36th career home run and moved up to second place on the all-time home run list.

Towson is back in the Tiger Softball Stadium tomorrow, April 10 to host the Hoyas of Georgetown. The game is slated to start at 3 p.m.
