TOWSON, Md. – Towson University freshman
Javon Fields was placed on the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Baseball All-Rookie Team, announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
Fields is the first Towson player to earn a spot on the CAA Baseball All-Rookie Team since
Richie Palacios in 2016.
The freshman out of Bear, Delaware was Towson's starting centerfielder and primarily was in the leadoff spot of the order. Fields was Towson's leader in batting average at .272, hits with 55, runs with 33, triples with five, stolen bases with 15 and fielding percentage at .988. He notched 17 multi-hit games, including a pair of six-game hitting streaks.
During the year, Fields picked up a CAA Rookie of the Week back on April 15
th with a .333 average in wins over George Mason and Hofstra.
The all-rookie team was announced along with the all-conference and major awards. The teams were voted on by the league's head coaches.
