Goodrich Signs Pro Contract with MLL’s Boston Cannons

QUINCY, Mass. -- For a third time in the last week, a former Towson University men's lacrosse student-athlete has signed a professional contract to play Major League Lacrosse (MLL). The most recent addition to the pro ranks was Zach Goodrich, who signed with the Boston Cannons on Sunday.

Goodrich was the third overall draft pick in the MLL's Collegiate Draft in March as he was selected by the Boston Cannons. A generational talent in the defensive midfield, Goodrich was also drafted third overall in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) by the Chrome LC.

The program's first-ever three-time captain, Goodrich was a semifinalist for the coveted Tewaaraton Award this season. The Stevensville, Marylander was also one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award. Earlier this month, Goodrich was announced as a first teamer for Inside Lacrosse's Media All-America lists and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Tournament team as the Tigers captured their third league title in Goodrich's career (2016, 2017, 2019).

A force in the defensive midfield, Goodrich caused 65 turnovers in his Black & Gold career, including 19 in his sophomore and junior seasons. As he forced 17 as a senior and 10 as a rookie, Goodrich's 65 caused turnovers rank tied for fourth all-time in program history.

The Kent Island High School product played in all 67 games of his Towson career, helping the Tigers reach the NCAA Tournament four times, including a berth the 2017 Championship Weekend. A threat in transition, Goodrich potted 16 goals as a Tiger while dishing out three assists for 19 points.

Aiding the Tigers' faceoff unit, Goodrich collected 152 ground balls and is poised to become the program's first-ever two-time USILA First Team All-American after earning the honor last season.

Goodrich and the Boston Cannons kick off the 2019 on June 1 when they host the New York Lizards at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy, Massachusetts. Opening faceoff is slated for 5 p.m.
