How it Happened:
- Penn State got the game's opening run in the bottom of the first with a one-out single by Justin Williams. Dean Stramara got two strikeouts in the inning despite the home team taking a 1-0 lead.
- The Nittany Lions added three more runs, all unearned, in the bottom of the second to lead 4-0.
- In the top of the fourth, Towson picked up first and third with two away. Dirk Masters lined a single to center to bring in Noah Cabrera and put Towson on the board, down 4-1 to PSU.
- Next inning, Towson rallied, beginning with Tom Flacco drawing a walk, then Zach Piazza singled. After Brad Powers grounded out to advance the runners, Flacco scored on a wild pitch, putting Piazza on third. Cabrera followed with a hard hit ball down the left field line for a double to score Piazza. Cabrera took third on a wild pitch. Jack Rotteveel hit a sacrifice fly as Cabrera sped down the third base line and beat the tag to tie the game 4-4.
- Towson took its first lead in the top of the sixth after Masters singled, stole second, took third on a ground out then scored on a Piazza line drive single to left field, pushing the Tigers up 5-4.
- As Jake Pecilunas held down the Nittany Lions, Towson added an insurance run in the top of the ninth in an odd way: after Powers was out on a failed suicide squeeze attempt, Cabrera was also caught in a rundown between second and third. A throw towards second went into center field; a heads-up Cabrera rounded third and broke for home, beating the throw to push Towson up 6-4.
- Kody Reeser entered the game in the bottom of the ninth and shut the door with a flyout and a pair of strikeouts. Towson won 6-4.
