Men’s Lacrosse Pro Roundup: Week Four

TOWSON, Md. -- The winning ways for the former Towson University men's lacrosse standouts continued in both professional leagues this weekend as the Tiger group combined to go 3-0 over the weekend.

The three games were highlighted by a "home game" for 2017 graduate Ryan Drenner as the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) hosted its weekend in Baltimore at historic Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University.

Ryan Drenner (Whipsnakes LC, PLL)
Ryan Drenner continued his breakout season with Whipsnakes LC in a 15-10 win over Atlas LC. It marked the first time this season the Whipsnakes did not need overtime to decide a game. Drenner finished with four points on three goals and one assist. He scored his three goals on four shots on goal, beating a former CAA netminder, Jack Concannon (Hofstra) for those goals.

Up Next for Drenner: The PLL heads south this coming weekend to Georgia State Stadium in Atlanta. Drenner and the Whipsnakes will take on Redwoods LC in the second game on Saturday.

Zach Goodrich (Boston Cannons, MLL)
Zach Goodrich helped lead the Boston Cannons to an 18-11 win over the New York Lizards on Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy, Massachusetts. Goodrich and the Cannons did not allow more than three goals in any quarter, limiting the guests to just five goals in the second half. The Stevensville, Marylander grabbed a pair of ground balls as the Cannons improved to 3-0 as the Boston-based club now sits atop the league standings.

Up Next for Goodrich: For the fourth time in the Boston's first five games, the Cannons will host a showdown at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Goodrich and the Cannons will take on the Denver Outlaws Saturday at 5 p.m. The game will be carried on NBC Sports Boston.

Brendan Sunday (Atlanta Blaze, MLL)
Brendan Sunday backed the Atlanta Blaze to a tight 13-11 win over the visiting Dallas Rattlers Friday night at Grady Stadium in Atlanta. Sunday recorded an assist in the win while adding four total shots and a ground ball.

Up Next for Sunday: The Blaze head to Annapolis this weekend for the first of two-straight games against the Chesapeake Bayhawks at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday, June 29. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

Alex Woodall (Atlanta Blaze, MLL)
Alex Woodall added to the Atlanta Blaze's 13-11 win over the Dallas Rattlers Friday night at Grady Stadium in Atlanta. Woodall won 11 of his 28 faceoffs, collecting 10 ground balls along the way. The recent graduate chipped in an assist as well in the victory.

Up Next for Sunday: Woodall makes his return to his hometown of Annapolis this weekend as the Blaze play the first of two-straight games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium against the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Opening faceoff for the Saturday, June 29 game is slated for 6 p.m.
