Goodrich, Sunday Named USILA Scholar All-Americans

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- With the conclusion of their respective college careers, a pair of former Towson University men's lacrosse standouts were named USILA Division I Scholar All-Americans. The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) made the announcement Thursday afternoon.

Two members of the class of 2019 earned the honor as short stick defensive midfielder Zach Goodrich and attackman Brendan Sunday were named to the Scholar All-America squad.

The pair become the first Tigers to earn USILA Scholar All-America honors since Jack Adams, Ryan Drenner and Tyler Konen were selected in 2017. Towson head coach Shawn Nadelen has coached six USILA Scholar All-Americans in the last four seasons with the addition of goalkeeper Tyler White in 2016.

The program's first-ever three-time captain, Goodrich was a semifinalist for the coveted Tewaaraton Award this season. The Stevensville, Marylander was also one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award. Earlier this summer, Goodrich was announced as a first teamer for Inside Lacrosse's Media All-America lists and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Tournament team as the Tigers captured their third league title in Goodrich's career (2016, 2017, 2019). Goodrich was also named First Team USILA All-America and was selected as the Lt. J.G. Donald MacLaughlin Jr. Outstanding Midfielder for 2019.

Goodrich forced 17 turnovers as a senior, including eight during CAA action and the league Tournament. The Kent Island High School product grabbed 37 ground balls, aiding the Tigers on the faceoff wing as one of the most successful units in the country. A threat in transition, the Boston Cannon (MLL) signee scored three goals along with a pair of assists. Despite a physical style, he served just six minutes in penalties in 2019.

A co-captain, Sunday had a breakout year as he was named CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Year after he scored a career-best 74 points, which ranks fourth all-time for a single season in Towson history. The 6-foot, 5-inch attackman tagged opponents for 49 goals and had 25 assists. Five of Sunday's 2019 goals came from next-level teammate Woodall, including two against No. 7 Johns Hopkins and two at No. 2 Duke.
