Four Former Tigers Named Pro Lacrosse All-Stars

TOWSON, Md. -- As the professional lacrosse season hits the midway point of the 2019 season, four former Towson University men's lacrosse players have been named to All-Star games in the two outdoor leagues.

Attackman Ryan Drenner was named to the Premier Lacrosse League's All-Star game, held on July 21 at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles and will play on Team Baptiste.

In Major League Lacrosse, three Tigers earned the right to play in the All-Star Game, hosted on July 27 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. Zach Goodrich will represent the Boston Cannons while classmates Brendan Sunday and Alex Woodall were named from the Atlanta Blaze.

Arguably the most-clutch player in the PLL, Drenner has produced four of the five game-winning goals for Whipsnakes LC as the team leads the league with a 5-1 record. Drenner has two overtime game-winners to date and is ranked fifth in the PLL with a dozen goals. He has one 2-point goal this year and is shooting at a 30 percent rate overall.

For the Boston Cannons, Goodrich has caused four turnovers this season while adding a goal in his first career professional game. The three-time captain at Towson has helped the Cannons to a 4-1 record, good enough for second in the league to date.

Sunday has come on strong for the Atlanta Blaze this year, playing in all six games and helping the southernmost MLL franchise to a 4-2 overall record. Sunday has racked 10 points on an even five goals and five assists, scoring on nearly half his shots on goal.

At the X for the Atlanta Blaze, Woodall has won 91 of his 182 faceoffs to date while collecting 68 total ground balls. On 19 occasions in 2019, opponents have violated at the X against Woodall, who has jumped early just three times.
