TOWSON, Md. – Towson University women's lacrosse head coach
Sonia LaMonica has announced the addition of Shanna Brady to her staff as an assistant coach.
Brady joins the Tiger staff after spending time at Hofstra University and LIU Post. In 2016 she joined the Pride's staff and spent two seasons on the sideline as the recruiting and defensive coordinator. Her first year saw a five-win improvement for Hofstra and the team continued to improve into 2018.
"I'm really thrilled to welcome Shanna to our Tiger family," LaMonica said. "I had some great candidates through the interview process but it became clear Shanna's playing successes, coaching experience and energetic aura were the best fit for our staff and program. She will assist in many facets of our operation as we look to reemerge as a top program in the country, but particularly she will serve as a great role model and developer of our student athletes."
Prior to her time at Hofstra, Brady was an assistant coach at LIU Post in 2016. She oversaw the defense and helped lead the team to a 17-4 record and a quarterfinal appearance in the NCAA Tournament. At LIU Post, Brady assisted in recruiting, community outreach and organizing team travel.
A 2015 University of Maryland graduate, Brady won two national championships as a student-athlete for the Terps. In each of her four years in College Park the Smithtown, New York native played in championship weekend.
Brady finished with 75 ground balls, 46 caused turnovers and 30 draw controls in the 92 games in which she played. While in college she served as a coach with the Long Island Express Lacrosse Club and was on the Maryland Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two years as an undergraduate.
In 2016 she played professionally for the Long Island Sound in the United Women's Lacrosse League, and currently plays for the Fight of the Women's Professional Lacrosse League.
Brady graduated with a degree in family science from Maryland in 2015.
