CAA Journey Begins And Ends Against Northeastern

TOWSON, Md. – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has released its 2019-20 conference schedule which features 18 contests. Each conference school will play the other at home and on the road.
 
Towson's game times and promotional schedule will be released at a later date. In addition, dates of the some CAA contents are potentially subject to change based on TV selections once that schedule is finalized.
 
Key CAA Dates (subject to change)
Saturday, Dec. 28: Home and conference opener vs. Northeastern.
Monday, Dec. 30: Home vs Hofstra. That will be the 326th and final game of the decade for Towson.
Thursday, Jan. 2: CAA road opener at College of Charleston.
Saturday, Feb. 22: Final home game vs. Elon.
Saturday, Feb. 29: Season finale at Northeastern.
Saturday, March 7-10: Conference tournament at the D.C. Entertainment & Sports Arena.
 
CAA Schedule Notes
  • Towson opens CAA play against reigning tournament champion Northeastern on Saturday, Dec. 28, the first time since the 2016-17 season that Towson will play its conference opener at home.
  • The Tigers start the CAA season by playing five of their first seven games at home.
  • Towson's first three CAA games will be against the only schools that finished with 20 or more wins last season: Northeastern, Hofstra (Monday, Dec. 30) and College of Charleston (Thursday, Jan. 2).
  • Towson's first two CAA games will be against the only schools that participated in the 2019 postseason: Northeastern (NCAA Tournament) and Hofstra (NIT).
  • Towson ends the 2019-20 season by playing five of its final seven CAA games on the road.
  • For the fourth time in five years, Towson will finish the regular season on the road.
  • This will be the second consecutive year in which Towson will host Elon in its home finale.
  • Breakdown of home CAA games for Towson by month: December (two), January (four) and February (three).
  • The Tigers two CAA byes will occur on Thursday, Jan. 16 and Thursday, Feb. 13.
 
2019-20 Roster Highlights
  • Towson returns 86 percent of its scoring punch and 90 percent of its rebounding muscle from last season including its top three scorers (Brian Fobbs, Tobias Howard and Nakye Sanders and top three rebounders (Dennis Tunstall, Sanders and Fobbs).
  • Among the returnees, nine of them played 10 or more minutes and started at least three games.
  • Fobbs and Tunstall are returning All-CAA performers.
  • Also returning for Towson this season are Jakigh Dottin, Nicolas Timberlake, Allen Betrand, Solomon Uyaelunmo, Chris Caligurian and Juwan Gray.
  • Incoming freshmen Charles Thompson and Jason Gibson earned All-Washington D.C. metro honors.
  • Transfers Demterius Mims (Long Beach State) and Victor Uyaelunmo (USC) will be eligible to compete for Towson in the 2020-21 season.
 
Statistically Speaking
 
  • Fobbs and Howard combined to score 28.9 points per game in CAA contests last season.
  • In addition, they each made 36 3-pointers in 18 CAA games a year ago.
  • Sanders and Tunstall had 66.6 percent of Towson's blocked shots in CAA games last year.
