WASHINGTON – Double overtime action for the first time this season for the Towson University women's soccer team as they tied George Washington 2-2 on Thursday afternoon.
After a new start time due to weather, Towson (2-4-1) used the hot temperature to add some extra fuel in the first half with
Lexi Littlefield scoring her second goal of the season.
Sydney Davis scored the second goal in the second half to put the Tigers ahead.
George Washington (2-1-2) had goals from Kelly Amador and Maria Pareja during regulation.
How it Happened
- Goalkeeper Lindsey Pazdziorko had the first save 25 seconds into the game after a shot by the Colonials Maria Pareja.
- Five minutes into the game Camryn Anderson took a shot but it went wide right.
- After a GW corner kick, Kelly Amador took a shot but it went high.
- A pass from Nikki Logan to Littlefield, Littlefield scored her second goal of the season to give the Tigers a 1-0 early lead ten minutes into the game.
- The Colonials took six more shots before Sofia Pavon passed the ball to Kelly Amador to score and tie the game 1-1 going into the half.
- Shots were exchanged back and forth until the 76 minute mark when Davis received a pass from Jenn Blank to score and give the Tigers the 2-1 lead.
- In the 87th minute, Pareja scored the second goal for George Washington sending the game into overtime.
- The score remained at 2-2 at the end of double overtime.
