TOWSON, Md. – Helping the No. 8 Towson University football team to a big win at No. 7/9 Maine over the weekend,
Steven Brown was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Football Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
This is the second straight week where Towson has picked up a CAA weekly award. Last week,
Shane McDonough was the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week.
Brown was part of a defensive unit that forced four interceptions against Maine, leading to a 45-23 victory against the defending CAA champion. 23 points is the least amount of points by Maine against an FCS opponent in the regular season since Oct. 6, 2018.
The junior had his first career start with Towson in the secondary on Saturday night, leading the team in tackles with nine plus notching an interception. He added a broken-up pass and a tackle for loss.
Through three games this year, the Plumas Lake, California native is second on the team with 24 tackles, adding a pair of passes deflected.
Brown and the Tigers are set to battle Villanova on Saturday, Sept. 21
