WILMINGTON, N.C. – Sunday afternoon the Towson University women's basketball team faced UNCW on the road, leaving with a 62-41 win.
The Tigers were led by
Kionna Jeter with 21 points while
Nukiya Mayo posted a double-double 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Towson improves to 8-8 on the year and 3-2 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action. Next weekend the Black and Gold return home to host Northeastern and Hofstra at SECU Arena.
How it Happened
- Towson, led by Kionna Jeter, rolled out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter.
- The Tiger defense was sealed tight holding the home team to just five points through the first 10 minutes.
- The Seahawks responded getting some points on the board, but the Tigers continued to push. By the media timeout of the second quarter, the road team was leading 30-13 with 4:46 to go in the half.
- Towson was leading by 18 at half, up 37-19.
- Q. Murray scored the first bucket of the second half, putting Towson up by 20.
- The third was not a high-scoring affair with 14 points from the Tigers, but defense remained steady as the Seahawks only scored nine.
- Entering the third, Towson was leading by 23, up 51-28 with 19 points from Jeter and 15 from Nukiya Mayo.
- With 7:42, the Tigers led by a game-high 28 points insuring a win on the road for the second straight game.

- Nukiya Mayo has recorded a double-double on points and rebounds in the last three straight games. Today's game was her sixth showing of the season with 10 or more in both categories.
- Mayo has 14 games this season with 10 or more points.
- Kionna Jeter has seen 18 consecutive games with double-figure scoring, dating back to last March. This was her sixth game this season with 20 or more points.
- Holding UNCW to five points in the first and nine in the third is the ninth time this season Towson has seen a quarter holding a team to less than 10 points.
- This is Towson's first road sweep of the season and first CAA weekend sweep of the year.
- The win is Towson's first win at UNCW since the 2012-13 season.
