COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Saturday afternoon the Towson University tennis team headed to College Park for a dual match against the Terrapins, falling 6-1.
The Tigers move to 1-2 on the season and return to action next weekend on the road facing West Virginia and Toledo.
Sarah Pospischill took a singles win to save the shutout, the first program individual win over Maryland.
How it Happened
- In doubles action the Black and Gold saw promise, with Jessica Assenmacher and Lauryn Jacobs falling by just two points a 6-2 final.
- Themis Haliou and Phoebe Collins dropped their doubles match 6-1 as Maryland took the doubles point.
- Pospischill took her singles win 4-6, 6-1 and 10-3, going to three sets after dropping the first.
- Alexa Martinez took a close loss in singles, falling 7-6 and 7-5 to her UMD opponent.Â
- Maryland won the remaining three singles matches.

Jamie Peterson. "We need to believe in our abilities a bit more and be able to close out tight games and close points out better. We will continue to improve as long as we have the right mindset and the right work ethic."

Towson continues on the road for the next five matches, beginning in Morgantown next Friday. The Tigers are set to see WVU, Toledo, Fairleigh Dickinson, Princeton and Villanova in the coming weeks.
