TOWSON, Md. – Sunday afternoon the Towson University women's basketball team lost to William & Mary in the second game of conference action, 83-75.
Kionna Jeter led the Tigers with 19 points,
Q. Murray finished with 18 and
Nukiya Mayo scored 12.
Ryan Holder paced Towson with five rebounds.
Towson returns to action on Wednesday night against Chestnut Hill in SECU Arena.
How it Happened
- The first period saw William & Mary jump out to a 12-point lead with just over three minutes to go.
- Towson fought back coming within eight points of tying it up but turnovers and missed shots gave the Tribe opportunity to score more often and end the first period up 28-18.
- Kionna Jeter scored the first bucket of the second quarter, cutting the lead to eight for the road team but William & Mary scored the next four points and held a double-figure lead with 7:05 to go in the half.
- The Tigers cut the lead twice more to eight points, the Tribe continued to score leading by 14 at the halftime.
- Q. Murray was the leading scorer for the home team at half with seven points and the Tigers were shooting 46.7 percent from the field.
- Entering the third Towson clawed to tie the game up, cutting the lead to as low as six points with 6:39 to go in the period.
- William & Mary kept the lead through the end of the third, up by nine to start the final period.
- Slow scoring started the fourth quarter, with 6:02 to go the Tribe led by nine before Murray cut the lead to seven with 5:39 to go.
- With four minutes left Murray struck again, cutting the lead to five.
- The road team extended its lead to six with 3:44 to go but Towson would not go quietly, cutting the lead to three with 2:39 to go on a layup from Nukiya Mayo.
- The Tigers were not able to close the gap as William & Mary went to the line and held its lead.

- Kionna Jeter has now scored in double figures for 14-straight games, dating back to last season's semifinal game of the CAA tournament. She has posted 10 or more points in every game this season.
- Nukiya Mayo has dropped 10 or more points in 10 games this season, she has 42 career games in double figures.
- Q. Murray finished with 18, her sixth game this season with double figures.
- Towson shot 48.4 percent from the field, the second-highest field goal percentage from this season. In November the Tigers shot 50.9 percent from the field against Iona.
Looking Ahead
Towson will conclude nonconference play with Chestnut Hill in midweek action and then hosts James Madison next Sunday to continue CAA play. JMU enters the week 11-2 with a 2-0 mark in conference.
