Towson Selected to Host 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Quarterfinals

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA announced Wednesday afternoon that Towson University has been selected to host the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinals at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.

The 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinals will be an all Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) affair as fellow league member Hofstra University will host the other pair of Quarterfinal showdowns.

This marks the first time since May 21, 2006 that Towson will serve as a quarterfinals host. That season, top-seeded Virginia bested No. 8 Georgetown 20-8 en route to a national championship, while second-seeded Maryland edged No. 7 Princeton 11-6 in the first game of the day. Towson also hosted the 2003 Division I Quarterfinals.

"We are excited to continue to have the eyes of the lacrosse world on Towson University," said Towson Director of Athletics Tim Leonard. "With the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinals coming to the Greater Baltimore area in 2024, Towson University will again be at the center of the action. We are proud to host the quarterfinals and showcase Johnny Unitas ® Stadium, a world-class facility, right here in the hotbed of lacrosse."

Dates for the 2024 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament games have not yet been set. Four teams will head to Greater Baltimore, vying for a chance to reach Championship Weekend, which will be contested at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fellow CAA member institution Drexel University will serve as the host for the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships across all three divisions.

Johnny Unitas ® Stadium, located on the South Campus of Towson University, is an 11,000-seat venue located eight miles from Baltimore's Inner Harbor. In the summer of 2020, Unitas ® Stadium was treated to a new FieldTurf Revolution 360 surface, which features Coolplay beads to keep lower temperatures on the playing surface. The sports complex underwent a $32 million renovation over a three-year span.

May 2024 will not be the first time in the coming years the collective eyes of the lacrosse world will be on Towson University. This spring, the Tigers will host the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship Weekend at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium, running May 28-30. Additionally, Towson University will host the 2021 World Lacrosse Women's World Championship from July 7-17.
