TOWSON, Md. – This week's Tiger Talk, Spiro Morekas, the voice of the Towson Tigers, sits down with Towson University Hall of Famers
Dan Crowley and
Mark Orlando, the most prolific quarterback-wide receiver duo in Tiger football history. Both were four-year starters for the Tigers from 1991 to 1994.
Crowley graduated with virtually every school passing record. He completed 617 of 1,169 passes for 8,900 passing yards and 81 touchdown passes. The DeMatha High School product had a 22-13 record as a starter. Named Towson's Male Athlete of the Year award as a senior, he was the seventh-rated passer in Division I-AA in 1994. Crowley spent eight seasons in the Canadian Football League and returned to Towson in 2010 where he now serves as Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Development, overseeing the department's fundraising initiatives for its 19-sport program.
A game-breaking wide receiver and punt return specialist,
Orlando finished his career as Towson's all-time leader in pass receiving yardage (3,460), touchdown receptions (31) and punt return yardage (644). As a senior, when he earned first team All-America honors, the Liberty High School graduate led Division I-AA by averaging 19.8 yards on 19 returns and posted four 200-yard receiving games: American International (266), Kutztown (244), Buffalo (238) and Bucknell (200).
The duo, who helped Towson post back-to-back 8-2 records in 1993 and 1994 and crack the I-AA national rankings for the first time, were teammates on the 1995 Grey Cup champion Baltimore Stallions.
