TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's basketball team added three players for the 2021-22 season during the early signing period.
Tyler Coleman, Tyler Gill and Rahdir Hicks will don the Black & Gold next year. Towson head coach Pat Skerry brings in a trio of players from different states; all will be freshmen in the 2021-22 season.
All three signed national letters of intent during the early signing period, which goes from Nov. 11-18th.
Tyler Coleman – Freshman – Forward – 6-7, 215 – Woodbridge, Va. – Paul VI
One of the best big men in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, Coleman was selected to the All-NOVA Junior Boys Private School Team in 2019-20. Coleman helped Paul VI win the 2019-20 Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state title, the school's second state title in three years, finishing with 27 victories and placed among the MaxPreps top-30 schools in the nation in 2019-20.
Skerry on Coleman: "Tyler has played for great coaches and programs in both high school at Paul VI and AAU with Team Takeover, benefiting from that coaching. We love his work ethic, hands and feet and his feel for the game, all strong attributes. He has done a lot of winning and will be a great fit for us."
Tyler Gill – Freshman – Guard – 5-11, 170 – Raleigh, N.C. – Trinity Academy of Raleigh
Gill earned 2020 Triad-Triangle Athletic Conference Player of the Year and 2A All-North Carolina recognition after averaging 17.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, five assists and four steals a contest for Trinity Academy in 2019-20. The two-time Tri-Tac First Team All-Conference guard has helped Trinity Academy win 44 games in the past two seasons, including a perfect 10-0 league record last year.
Skerry on Gill: "Tyler is a fast southpaw who can get to the rim and make plays off of ball screens. He is an extremely strong student who excelled in both high school at Trinity Academy and AAU for Team Wall and will be strong here."
Rahdir Hicks – Freshman – Guard – 6-0, 160 – Coatesville, Pa. – Malvern Prep
Hicks earned PRPrepLive All-Area First Team the past two seasons, averaging 16.6 points, 5.1 assists and 3.3 steals per game last year plus has some of the top defensive skills in the Philadelphia area, leading Malvern Prep to a 22-5 record in 2019-20 with a perfect 9-0 league slate. The 2018-19 Inter-Academic All-League guard surpassed the 1,000-point mark in high school during his junior year and played AAU ball with Philly Pride.
Skerry on Hicks: "Rahdir Hicks is a quick, tough, winning quarterback from Philadelphia, winning a national championship with Philly Pride AAU and is an outstanding academic student at Malvern Prep. His defensive tenacity and playmaking abilities will be an exciting addition to our program."
