Gymnastics Competes in a Tri-Meet at Pitt

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University gymnastics travels to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a tri-meet against Yale and host  University of Pittsburgh.

The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with doors opening an hour prior to the meet.

Last Time Out
Towson defeated UNC 194.325-194.225 last Friday, Feb.7 in a home meet.

The Tigers posted their best overall win over the Tar Heels in a regular season since 2014.
 
Key highlights include: Camille Vitoff tying her season-high on vault with a score of 9.875. Amy Stewart won on beam with a score of 9.875. Emerson Hurst finished first on beam with a season-high score of 9.875 and Melissa Temkov had a season-high score of 9.800 to finish in a five-way tie for second place.
 
Scouting Pitt
The Panthers scored their second-highest total of the season, posting a 195.350 in a dual meet against NC State on Feb. 8. The team win went to the Wolfpack who scored 196.025.
 
Alecia Petrikis and Devin Herbine posted career-best scores of 9.875 on vault, while Michaela Burton scored a 9.850 on bars. Burton also had a third-place win on beam with a score of 9.875 and was runner-up on floor with a career high-tying 9.875.

Scouting Yale
The Bulldogs defeated Brockport 194.175-188.750 on Feb. 9.

Anna Jennings earned a new season-high score of 9.675 and on anchor was Amiee Titche who scored a 9.8. Jade Buford scored a 9.850 on the uneven bars and Lindsey Chia scored a 9.825 on beam.
 
Emma Firmstone scored a 9.700 on floor.
 
Conference Rankings
  • Ally Wesoly is ranked second in conference in the all-around with an average and high score of 38.925. She is also ranked 24th on vault (9.695 avg., 9.750 high), ninth on bars (9.745 avg., 9.800 high) and 21st on floor (9.725 avg., 9.725).
  • Lauren Bolen is ranked seventh in the all-around with an average score of 38.506 and high score of 38.825. She is ranked 21st on vault (9.715 avg., 9.750 high) and 23rd on beam (9.695 avg., 9.775 high).
  • Amy Stewart is ranked fifth on bars with an average score of 9.781 and a 9.875 high.
  • Emerson Hurst is ranked eighth on beam with an average score of 9.760 and a high of 9.875. She is ranked 20th on vault (9.712 avg., 9.775).
  • Tess Zientek is ranked ninth on bars with an average score of 9.745 and a 9.850 high.
  • Nikki Borkowski is ranked 22nd on vault with an average score of 9.700 and a 9.750 high.
  • Camille Vitoff is ranked 14th on vault with an average score of 9.735 and high of 9.800. She is also tied 11th on beam with an average and high score of 9.750. She is ranked 24th on bars with an average score of 9.631 and a high score of 9.800.
  • Paige Casper is ranked 24th on floor (9.715 avg., 9.775 high).
  • Kyla Gamble is tied 15th on vault (9.733 avg., 9.800 high) and on bars with an average score of 9.750 and high of 9.750.
 
Tigers in the Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area.
  • For the 7th consecutive year, the department exceeded 10,000 hours of community service to the Greater Baltimore region, finishing with 11,162 hours of community service in the 2018-19 academic season.
  • Towson ranked #1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition.
  • Towson had a 97% participation rate, attended 118 community service opportunities and volunteered with 19 organizations.
  • Towson won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
