BOX SCORE PRINCETON, N.J. - The first match of three this weekend was a tough outing at No. 9 Princeton on Saturday morning. The Black and Gold dropped the match 7-0.
Towson returns to action tomorrow to face Villanova in New Jersey before returning home to host Coppin State indoors. The Tigers fall to 1-6 on the year.
In singles action Towson fell in straight sets every match. Doubles play saw a strong fight from
Alexa Martinez and
Themis Haliou, falling 6-3.
"We played a top-10 program for the first time," said head coach
Jamie Peterson. "They were coming off a shutout win over No. 6 Pepperdine and played like it. We gave really good effort, but Princeton was on their game. The doubles team of
Alexa Martinez and
Themis Haliou had a very competitive 6-3 set, and we did do some positive things on the court. We should be well prepared for a tough match against Villanova tomorrow."
