Softball Falls to Pittsburgh in Pirate Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Towson University softball team fell to Pittsburgh 4-2 Saturday evening during the Pirate Invitational, hosted by East Carolina.

After weather impacted the ECU Softball Stadium, the Tigers finally got to play their first game of the day.

How it Happened
  • Pitt got on the board early in the first inning.
  • After a double by Madison Wilson, the Tigers tied the game 1-1 in the top of the second.
  • The Panthers scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.
  • The Tigers added a run in the top of the sixth after Jaclyn Mounie scored on a passed ball. (4-2 Pitt)
Behind the Numbers
  • Towson moves to 4-4 on the season.
  • Jessica Swistock led the team with two hits and is on a three-game hit streak.
  • Sara Johnson threw five innings and had two strikeouts.
Up Next
Towson will play the host team East Carolina tomorrow, Feb. 22 at 12:30 p.m. inside ECU Softball Stadium.
