TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University football team is back on the field for first time this spring, bringing together returners and newcomers alike in preparation for the 2020 campaign.
Several returners and the newcomers who enrolled for the spring semester came to the field for the first time for spring practice today. The future spring practices will go intermittently through April 14
th for the spring game at Johnny Unitas® Stadium.
"It's exciting to be back on the field," said Towson head coach
Rob Ambrose. "They have been in a mode where they have run, lifted and done agilities, but they have not worked together as a team doing football drills. The first day is about getting back into a rhythm and how to communicate in a group of 11. The day was a little sloppy, but the effort and focus were good, looking forward to day two."
The players took the field at 7:45 a.m. this morning, participating in 7-on-7 drills and various individual position drills on the first day. They will look to improve their skills and conditioning during the next couple of weeks.
In 2019, the Tigers earned their second straight winning season, notching seven victories. Four of those wins came against teams that were ranked or receiving votes at the time of the game. 2018 CAA Special Teams Player of the Year
Shane Simpson returns for the 2020 year as the Tigers also return 2019 All-CAA players
Aaron Grzymkowski, Coby Tippett and
