Towson, Md. – Announced today, senior women's lacrosse player
Carly Tellekamp has been named to the 2020 Academic All-District 2 Women's At-Large first team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Tellekamp is graduating from Towson University this week and has spent the last five years as a member of the women's lacrosse team. This accolade comes at the end of a strong, award-winning career.
Tellekamp has been named to the CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll twice, along with the ECAC President's Honor Roll and the IWLCA Honor Roll previously.
Her freshman season Tellekamp made noise early; she was named the ILWomen.com National Rookie of the Week after her first two games with three goals, two assists, one caused turnover and one game-winning goal. In 2016 she was a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie Team after being named CAA Rookie of the Week four times. She finished fifth on the team with 25 points, despite missing the last eight games of the season.
Awards and honors continued her sophomore season when she started in all 19 games at attack, she led the Tigers in goals with 54. Tellekamp collected another CAA weekly honor after scoring six goals against UMBC, her career-high, which she later matched that season at Hofstra. She was named to the All-CAA Second Team.
In 2018, her junior season, Tellekamp was, again, placed on the All-CAA Second Team, as she finished with 50 points and started in 18 of 20 games.
Injury plagued what would have been her senior season of 2019, she saw action in five games and scored five goals. The 2020 season was cut short due to outside circumstances, she was a co-captain and played in three games in the shortened schedule.
Upon finishing her bachelor's degree, Tellekamp is now completing a graduate degree in teaching special education, she holds a 4.0 GPA.
The Academic All-District team is selected by members of CoSIDA. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. In the at-large category, only four men and four women from the eligible sports can be nominated per school.
