TOWSON, Md.- On Tuesday, the College Swimming Coaches Association (CSCAA) announced that the Towson University men's and women's swimming programs was named to its Scholar All-America team for the spring 2020 semester.
Towson was one of 461 schools to receive the award for the spring semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their spring grade point averages and represent 17,982 student-athletes. Â
Â
On the Towson's men side they finished the semester with a 3.406 grade point average and the women had a 3.627.
Â
CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart mentioned the efforts of Coach Shrum noting that "No team was unaffected by this spring's pandemic but Athletic Director Leonard and President Schatzel can and should be proud of their team and the work of Jake."Â
Â
"It's always great to be honored by the CSCAA for our student-athletes success in the classroom," said head coach
Jake Shrum. "Our kids are very focused on achieving success in and out of the water and this shows just how hard they apply themselves to their studies. What was most impressive about this semester was how many of them still took classes for GPA instead of just taking the Pass/Fail option. Our kids expect to succeed and it shows."
Â
Towson was also recognized during the fall semester for academic success.
The CSCAA will announce its individual Scholar All-Americans next week.
