Jeter Named CAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week

TOWSON, Md. -- Playing with zero rust in her game, Towson University redshirt senior guard Kionna Jeter was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week. The league office made its announcement Monday afternoon.

This is the second time this season Jeter, who ranks sixth nationally in points per game (24.7) has been named CAA Player of the Week, taking the first honor of the year on Nov. 30. This is the third time this season that a Tigers has won a weekly award as freshman Allie Kubek was selected as Rookie of the Week on Dec. 7, 2020.

Joining Jeter in this week's awards was College of Charleston freshman forward Amira Williams.

Jeter, who is on the Her Hoop Stats Midseason Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List, averaged 25.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals as Towson returned from a 20-day layoff to sweep a pair of games from Hofstra. The senior guard scored a team-best 24 points and added five rebounds in a 65-60 victory on Saturday and followed with a game-high 26 points and four steals in a 92-64 win on Sunday. For the week, Jeter shot 50 percent (17-34) from the floor, including 7-of-16 from three, and made 9-of-10 at the line. She moved into a tie for sixth-place on Towson's career scoring list with 1,345 points in less than three seasons.

Towson (7-3, 2-1 CAA) hits the road for its next set of league games. The Tigers take on William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia this Saturday and Sunday at Kaplan Arena. Both games against the Tribe (6-7, 3-5 CAA) are slated for 2 p.m.
