Five Tigers Score in Double Figures as Women's Basketball Defeats Millersville, 95-46

Towson, Md. – Five Tigers scored in double-digits as the Towson University women's basketball team earned a dominating win over Millersville on Tuesday night, 95-46, to improve to 4-1 on the season.  

Allie Kubek and Tarriyonna Gary both paced the team with 14 points apiece, followed by Aleah Nelson, Rayne Tucker and Mariah Wilson with 12 points each.  

Narrie Dodson led the team on the boards, with 11 rebounds for a new career-best. The black & gold also grabbed a total 18 steals, led by Nelson with five grabs for a new career-high.

How it Happened 

  • Towson got off on the right foot, jumping out to an early 7-1 lead. Skye Williams and Anissa Rivera hit a pair from deep early, to lead the team on a 10-point run. 
  • The Tigers held the Marauders to just six points in the opening quarter and scored 20.  
  • Freshman Mariah Wilson came alive in the second quarter, scoring 10 points. The guard hit two three-point field goals in addition to going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.  
  • With another three-pointer from Gary, the Tigers shot 75 percent (3-for-4) from beyond the arc in the quarter.  
  • Millersville made up some points at the free throw line, shooting a perfect 8-for-8 in the second. Towson still went into the locker room with a comfortable 24-point advantage. 
  • Coming out of halftime, Nelson came up with a big three-point play to put the game at 53-29. She kept it going just minutes later, finding Tucker in transition for a score. The two combined for 10 points in the third.  
  • Going into the final 10:00 with a 31-point edge, the Tigers did not let up. Halfway through the fourth quarter, the team went on its biggest scoring run of the contest, with 13 points.  
  • With just under two to go in the game, Towson took its largest lead of the night, going up by 51 points.  
  • Dodson totaled seven boards in the final quarter to help her get to a game-high 11 rebounds. Kubek also added six points in the fourth for her best period of the game and to help Towson solidify the 49-point victory.  

Inside the Numbers  

  • With nine assists, Nelson has topped her team in all four games this season in the stats. Also with 12 points, the guard has landed double-digit scoring efforts in fourth consecutive games.  
  • All 11 Tigers that dressed for the matchup against the Marauders scored at least two points.  
  • With 11 boards, Dodson led both benches off the glass and replaced her previous career high of eight. Four other Tigers also secured six rebounds in Kubek, Rivera, Ryann Evans and Quinzia Fulmore.  
  • Tucker suited up on Tuesday night for the first time in a Tigers uniform since transferring from James Madison in the offseason.  
  • With 18 steals, Towson scored 38 points off 28 turnovers. Also sticking to their roots, the Tigers continued their fast style of play, picking up 39 fast break points.  
  • The black & gold's bench gave the team a great spark, scoring 46 points. Two of the Tigers that found themselves with double-figure scoring totals came off the sideline (Tucker and Wilson).  

Next Game 

Towson will welcome Howard on Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. and Delaware State on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. to finish out the month of November and the three-game homestand.
