Towson, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team handled Howard, 96-52, on Saturday night to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Five Tigers reached double figure scoring in the affair, led by Anissa Rivera with a season-best 22 points in addition to nine rebounds. Allie Kubek (16), Aleah Nelson (11), Tarriyona Gary (10) and Skye Williams (18) also landed in double-digits with Ryann Evans following closely behind with nine points.
The Tigers also had a stellar day of defense, ending the outing with 14 steals and seven blocks. Gary paced the squad with career-high six steals while Rayne Tucker landed a game-high three blocks.

How it Happened
- Howard came out hungry, taking the 4-0 lead to start. Towson quickly turned the tides though, to take the 6-4 edge just before the halfway point of the period.
- For the middle 7:01 of the period, the Tigers held the Bison scoreless, denying them of six consecutive field goals.
- The Towson defense came alive in the second, holding Howard to just eight points. The black & gold grabbed six steals in the second quarter alone, led by Gary who collected three grabs in the period.
- On the other side of the ball, Williams had her best quarter of the day, going 2-for-3 from the field for six points. The senior helped the team on their biggest scoring run of the night with 15 points.
- The black & gold did not let up coming out of the locker room as they continued with a 10-0 run before the media timeout (4:42) in the third. They also held Howard to 1-of-9 from the field during the span.
- Rivera netted 10 points in the period to lead both benches. The junior transfer went 4-for-5 from the field and hit both attempts from beyond the arc. Towson ended the third with a game-high 34 points.
- Toward the end of the fourth, Howard went on a five-point scoring run but it was quickly put to an end as Towson then held the opposition scoreless for the final 3:41 of the game. In turn, the black & gold ended the game with an uncontested six points to seal the victory.
- Five different Tigers got to the rim in the fourth, led by Kubek with six points. Quinzia Fulmore, Tucker and Rivera also each took in three rebounds.
Inside the Numbers
- In addition to home wins over Frostburg State (113-59) and Millersville (95-46), Towson now owns a 3-0 record at home.
- With six assists, Nelson has now led the Tigers in the stat in all six games. She has also reached double-digit scoring in every outing this season. Towson ended the day with 19 total assists and nine unique scorers.
- Saturday's affair marks the second consecutive contest in which five Tigers have reached double-digit scoring totals. At least three players have cracked double figures in five of six contests so far this season.
- The black & gold held the Bison to just 25.4 percent (18-of-71) shooting during the game. Howard shot a game-low 3-of-15 (20 percent) from the field in the second quarter.
- Towson held Howard to just eight points in the second quarter, marking the fifth occasion this season an opposing team has scored less than 10 points in a single quarter.
- With nine boards apiece from both Rivera and Kubek, the team finished with a total 52 rebounds. The Tigers are among the top in the nation off the boards, now averaging 47.67 rebounds per game.
- Saturday's outing marks the fourth in double-digit steals for Towson and second in a row. The team also forced 21 steals to secure 25 points.

Towson will finish out its three-game homestand with Delaware State on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.
