Towson, Md. — The Towson University women's basketball team came in at No. 19 in the most recent CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. The team was previously ranked at the same spot on Dec. 14.
Missouri State sits atop the standings with an 8-2 record while BYU (9-1), FGCU (9-1), California Baptists (9-2) and Princeton (7-3) round out the top-5.
The Tigers are the highest ranked Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) team in the poll, as Drexel sits at No. 21.
After wins over UMass Lowell (70-56) and American (79-61) the black & gold are off to their hottest start since the 2006-07 slate when the team came out to a 10-1 mark. With the victories, Head Coach Diane Richardson has led the Tigers to six consecutive wins.
Junior Aleah Nelson paces her team averaging 17.2 points while adding 67 assists to rank third in the country. Allie Kubek has also been a scoring threat for the team, averaging 15.7 points and shooting 61 percent from the field. Off the glass, Anissa Rivera leads the team with 7.6 boards per game.
The Tigers will be back on the court against the Dragons on Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. to open conference play in Philadelphia.
