Jeter Drops Third Consecutive 30-Point Performance in Win Over Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. – Towson women's basketball earned its sixth consecutive and first road CAA (Colonial Athletic Association) win with a 90-69 victory over Northeastern on Saturday afternoon in the Cabot Center. Kionna Jeter scored her +30-point performance in a row and fifth of the season. 

Jeter put up 30 points in addition to shooting over 60 percent from both 3-point range (5-of-8) and the floor (11-of-18). The senior guard added a team-high seven assists and two steals.  

The Tigers as a whole shot an impressive 54.1 percent from the field and 52.9 percent from beyond the arc.  

Aleah Nelson (15) and Shavonne Smith (18) also scored in double digits. Nelson contributed four rebounds, six assists and a game-high three steals.   

Allie Kubek gave the Tigers a big effort, scoring nine points, including two 3-pointers. She grabbed six off the glass and had two helpers. 

Off the sideline, Skye Williams netted seven of the team's 10 bench points. She shot 3-for-5 from the floor and grabbed three boards.  

Mide Oriyomi had a big game for the Huskies, posting her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and boards, respectively.

Beyond the Box:   

  • Jeter has scored 10 or more points in 22 consecutive games and 43 of her last 44 dating back to the 2018-19 season. As a Tiger, Jeter has scored in double figures 70 times in 76 career games.   
  • Smith has scored in double-figures 12 times this season, including 10 of her last 11 outings. 
  • Nelson has scored in double digits in all 14 games this season. The sophomore guard has also dropped 15 or more points six times.  
  • The Tigers scored 27 points off the fast break during Saturday's win, allowing just five points from the Huskies in the category. The Tigers are the top transition team in Division I basketball, leading the nation in transition points with 34.3 points per game through their first 12 contests.  
  • Head Coach Diane Richardson secured her 30th career win in the CAA with the win over Northeastern.  
  • The 90-69 victory over the Huskies is the Tigers' largest in program history with a 21-point win margin. The previous biggest win was a 72-57 victory on Feb. 8, 2010. 

How it Happened:   

  • The Tigers started the contest on a 10-0 run with 6:53 to play first quarter.  
  • Jeter went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, netting 9 points in the first 10:00 to help put Towson up 24-20.  
  • The Huskies started the second quarter on an 8-0 run to take the 32-25 edge.  
  • Northeastern saw its biggest lead of the game at 38-28 with 3:18 to go until halftime.  
  • The Tigers came out hot in the second half, scoring 6 unanswered points and hitting 4-of-5 from the floor. The Huskies led going into the locker room, 38-35.  
  • Towson went on yet another big run, scoring 11-1 with 1:27 to play in the third. The team also held the Huskies to 0-for-5 field goals during the span.  
  • The Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Huskies 31-16.  
  • Jeter netted 12 points and four assists in the quarter. 
  • Towson ended the contest scoring nine consecutive points and three of its final three field goals.
