Towson Baseball Announces Schedule for 2021 Campaign

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team is ready to get back on the diamond.  The Tigers have announced their schedule for the 2021 season.
 
Towson is set for a 54-game regular season, including a 21-home game schedule at John B. Schuerholz Park and a divisional Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) slate.
 
This year, to restrict travel, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has split the nine league teams into two divisions, North and South.  Towson will compete in the four-team North Division along with Delaware, Hofstra and Northeastern.  All teams in the North Division will play each other four-game, home-and-home series for a total of 24 league games.  The South Division is made up of Charleston, Elon, James Madison, UNCW and William & Mary.
 
The 2021 CAA Tournament will take the top two teams of each division plus two at-larges for the field.  UNCW will serve as host for the tournament from May 26-30.
 
All games and times are subject to change during the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Towson's first 15 games of the 2021 season will be on the road, including its first three weekends.  First pitch is set for 4 p.m. on Feb. 19 at Western Carolina in Cullowhee, North Carolina, for a four-game series from Feb. 19-21.  The 20th is a 2 p.m. doubleheader with getaway day being the 21st at 1 p.m.
 
The next weekend, Towson heads to the other Carolina for a three-game series at Winthrop.  The teams will play a single game on Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. and a doubleheader on Feb. 27 at 1 p.m.
 
After a mid-week contest at Navy on Mar. 3, the Tigers continues their southern travels to the Peach State to play Georgia Southern for three games: Mar. 5 at 6:30 p.m., Mar. 6 at 2 p.m. and Mar. 7 and 1 p.m.
 
The next four games will be in Virginia, beginning with a three-game set against VCU in Richmond from Mar. 12-14.  Then, Towson challenges Virginia in Charlottesville on Mar. 17 at 4 p.m.
 
The home opening games for Towson will be a weekend series against UMass, beginning on Mar. 19 at 3 p.m., following with a 2 p.m. game on Mar. 20 and a 1 p.m. matinee on Mar. 21.  The homestand continues with a Mar. 24, 3 p.m. midweek affair against George Washington.
 
Towson will take on George Mason for the next four games, split between the two home fields.  First, they'll play in Towson on Mar. 26 at 3 p.m., then the squads go to Fairfax for a Mar. 27 doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.  Back to Schuerholz they go for a Mar. 28, 1 p.m. contest.
 
Following a home midweek game against Baltimore-rival Coppin State, the Tigers begin CAA play against Delaware.  Game times are set for Apr. 2 at 3 p.m., Apr. 3 at 11 a.m. (doubleheader) and Apr. 4 at 1 p.m.
 
The Black & Gold return to non-conference play for its next five games: a midweek vs. Navy on Apr. 7, a weekend series against Richmond with a road doubleheader on Apr. 10 starting at 11 a.m. and a home single game on Apr. 11 at 1 p.m., then a midweek at Georgetown on Apr. 13.
 
Back to league play for the Tigers as they host Northeastern from Apr. 16-18 in the same format, a 3 p.m. Friday game, 11 a.m. doubleheader and 1 p.m. matinee.
 
Following a Apr. 21 midweek at George Washington, the Black & Gold go north to Long Island for a four-game series at Hofstra from Apr. 23-25.  It will be the same format as the previous weekend: 3 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. Saturday doubleheader and 1 p.m. Sunday getaway game.
 
The season continues with only conference weekends as the CAA series flip.  Towson will be in Boston to play Northeastern from Apr. 30-May 2, starting with a 2 p.m. Friday game and following with an 11 a.m. Saturday doubleheader and a 1 p.m. Sunday getaway game.
 
The Tigers go to Delaware for the next four-game set from May 7-9.  Towson battles the Blue Hens at 7 p.m. on Friday, at 3 p.m. for a Saturday doubleheader and at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
 
The CAA regular season will end at home as Towson hosts Hofstra from May 14-16.  The games are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. Saturday (doubleheader) and 1 p.m. Sunday.
