TOWSON, Md. – Despite a double-double from Shavonne Smith, Towson women's basketball dropped the 71-55 decision to Drexel on Saturday afternoon at SECU Arena.
Smith was the only Tiger to score in double-figures, netting 15 as well as grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. Allie Kubek followed closely behind with 8 boards and also added four points.
Aleah Nelson contributed seven points and a team-high three assists.
Towson scored 15 bench points, led by Tarriyonna Gary who was one of four Tigers to drop seven points in the game. Kiara Johnson added a season-high six points.
Three players scored in double-digits for the Dragons, including Keishana Washington who led game-scoring with 19 points. Towson held Drexel's best scorer Hannah Nihill to just six points, shooting 30 percent (3-of-10) from the field.

- Smith's double-double is the second of her career. The first came against Longwood earlier this season when she earned 23 points and fourteen rebounds.
- Smith has 10 or more points in 13 of her last 15 contests and is averaging 13.6 points per game, tied for second highest on the team.
- Nelson has topped the Tigers in assists 15 of 16 contests this season. The sophomore from Baltimore is averaging 6.8 assists per contest.
- The Tigers had their best game of the season at the line, shooting 81.25 percent (13-for-16). The team's previous high was 80.95 percent (17-for-21) against Longwood.

How it Happened:
- Skye Williams opened up scoring with a 3-point field goal to put the Tigers ahead. Unfortunately, the Drexel would control the game from there.
- The Dragons came out hot, going on a big 16-point run to start off the contest.
- Kubek made a layup at the end of the first period to make the score 21-9.
- Drexel continued the momentum into the second quarter, netting eight to extend its lead.
- In the last minute of play going into the locker room, Smith hit a 3-pointer off a stolen ball to make the score 33-16. She ended the first half with five points and seven rebounds.
- To start the second half of play, LaKaitlin Wright cashed in on two layups to put the game within 18 points.
- Nelson hit a 3-point field goal and one from the line to make the score 47-27 halfway through the quarter. The Tigers held the Dragons to 15 points in the third, their lowest-scoring quarter of the game.
- Towson tried to mount a comeback in the final 10:00, with seven different players finding the basket to total a 24-point effort.
