TOWSON, Md. – LaKaitlin Wright scored a career-best 17 points and grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds to secure her second career double-double in a Towson women's basketball win over the College of Charleston, 90-81, on Saturday afternoon at SECU Arena.
Kionna Jeter also had a career day, netting 28 points to move to fifth on the Towson women's basketball all-time scoring list. The senior guard was previously tied at sixth with Dominique Johnson at 1,345 before passing Nukiya Mayo at 1,372. Tara Rottet is next with 1,416 points.
Aleah Nelson (12) and Shavonne Smith (17) join Wright and Jeter in double digit scoring. The four combined for 72 points. Nelson kept up her care of the ball, dishing out 9 of the team's 12 assists.
Jeter caught fire in the first half, netting 20 of her 28 points. She made a pair of shots at the end of the first quarter to put the Tigers up, 15-11. Charleston kept it close though, ending the opening period down 15-14.
Tyler Collins scored 18 points for the Cougars along with Tyler Gray who grabbed a team-high 8 off the boards.
Towson University women's basketball coach Diane Richardson coached her first game back on the court since the beginning on January due to COVID-19 protocols.

- Jeter has scored 10 or more points in 19 consecutive games and 41 of her last 42 dating back to the 2018-19 season. As a Tiger, Jeter has scored in double figures 67 times in 73 career games.

How it Happened:
- Towson took a 7-2 lead after three minutes of action. Jeter and Allie Kubek combined for six points to open scoring. Charleston kept in close, taking the 11-9 edge halfway through the period.
- Jeter put Towson back on top with two minutes to go in the period on a breakaway layup, 15-11.
- Jeter heated up in the second quarter, scoring 14 of the Tigers' 24 points. Wright followed with four points and three off the glass.
- Towson went on a 13-2 run to end the first half and give the Tigers a 39-31 advantage heading into the third quarter.
- Nelson took it full court to start the second half and put the Tigers up, 45-41. She also added three assists in the quarter.
- Charleston tied the score at 47 midway through the quarter which was the last time the Cougars would hold any share of the lead.
- With under five minutes to play in the final quarter, Nelson hit a layup and free throw on the foul to extend the lead to 75-62.
- In the fourth quarter the Tigers saw six different scorers, outscoring the opposition 33-29. Shavonne Smith netted 13 fourth quarter points to help solidify the win.
