Smith Named USILA Honorable Mention All-America

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Towson University senior men's lacrosse defenseman Koby Smith collected another postseason honor as he was named USILA All-America Honorable Mention.

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) made its announcement Thursday afternoon in advance of the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship Weekend. This marks the 11th time in head coach Shawn Nadelen's tenure that a Tiger has earned USILA All-America Honorable Mention honors.

In addition to his second career USILA All-America plaudits, Smith was named to the Inside Lacrosse Media All-America Honorable Mention list. This marks the third-straight season in which Smith has earned Inside Lacrosse All-America plaudits. Additionally, he was named USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honorable Mention.

This spring, Smith started in all 14 games for the Tigers as a close defenseman. The four-year starter caused 13 turnovers, including a season-best three against top-ranked Duke (Feb. 20). The Lutherville, Marylander snagged 23 ground balls, with six coming in Towson's overtime win over Saint Joseph's (Feb. 13). During the 2021 season, Smith posted two points on one goal and one assist while helping Towson to an 84.8 clearing percentage.
