Pearre Earns Weekly CAA Award For Second Time

TOWSON, Md. – For the second time this season, Towson University midfielder Blair Pearre has been named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week by the league office. Last Saturday, the sophomore scored six goals in a one-goal loss to Hofstra.

For spring sports, the CAA has ruled that true freshmen who played a shortened season last year are eligible this season for Rookie of the Week since the league did not name an All-Rookie team or Rookie of the Year in 2020.

Pearre has scored at least two goals in 13 games this season and 18 of 21 at the collegiate level. The former Under Armour All-American has nine hat tricks and scored at least five goals four times. She tops Towson in goals (49), points (53) and groundballs (33) and is second in draw controls (57). She led the CAA with 26 free-position goals and ranks second nationally, averaging 1.73 free-position goals per game.

The former McDonogh star is one goal away from becoming the ninth player in school history to score 50 goals in a season. It would be the 13th 50-goal season as Ruthie Gutridge (1984-86), Shannon Witzel (2005-06) and Hilary Fratzke (2008 & 2010) reached the milestone in multiple seasons. The last Tiger to score 50 goals was Emily Gillingham (54) in 2018.

Joining Pearre, who was named to the 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List earlier this season, in this week's conference honors are Hofstra's Alyssa Parrella (Player of the Week) and Elon's Paulina DiFatta (Defender of the Week).

Pearre picked up Rookie of the Week honors on April 13 after scoring a career-best seven goals in a win over William & Mary. Freshman midfielder Lindsey Marshall earned Rookie of the Week honors on March 2 and March 23. Defensive midfielder Olivia Malamphy was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors on February 16, while defender Erin Williams picked up that same award on March 16.

Towson (8-7) will face Elon in the first round of the CAA Tournament on Wednesday afternoon (4 p.m.) in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
