TOWSON, Md. – Towson University men's basketball head coach
Pat Skerry will be assisting some of the top up-and-coming talent in the country this month, being selected as a court coach at the 2021 USA Basketball Men's U19 World Cup training camp.
Skerry will be assisting the USA U19 coaching staff during the training camp, which will be held on the campus of Texas Christian University (TCU) from June 20-27.
Skerry was one of three coaches across the country selected for this role. He will be participating with USA Basketball for the first time. Court coaches assist the U19 coaching staff with on-court drills and scrimmages during the camp sessions.
"I'm extremely excited to help out USA Basketball as a court coach," said Skerry. "I look forward to working with the talented student-athletes that will be at TCU as they prepare for their gold medal quest. I want to thank Sean Ford from USA Basketball and my former boss Jamie Dixon for this opportunity."
12 athletes will be selected out of 27 training camp attendees for the 2021 USA Basketball Men's U19 team. The team will look to qualify for the 2021 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup in Latvia in July.
Skerry will enter his 11
th year at the helm of the Tigers in the 2021-22 season. He has led the Tigers to 147 victories and five top-three finishes in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. Towson has won at least 18 games in seven of the last 10 seasons.
