TOWSON, Md. – Helping to keep Towson University women's soccer unbeaten through the first two games,
Riley Melendez has been chosen as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Week, announced on Monday.
This is Melendez's fourth CAA Defensive Player of the Week honor, including three weekly awards last spring. This is the first CAA weekly honor for Towson this season.
Melendez's performance in goal helped Towson stay unbeaten through two games for the first time since 2017. The sophomore earned a shutout vs. Saint Joseph's in last Thursday's home opener, following with seven saves in a draw at Bucknell on Sunday.
Towson stands at 1-0-1 on the season after defeating Saint Joseph's 3-0 and drawing at Bucknell 1-1. The next game is set for Thursday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. vs. Navy.
