TOWSON, Md. — Towson University field hockey played about four minutes of its season opener against Georgetown before lightning forced the end of game.
The contest, which was supposed to start at 3 p.m., got pushed back to 4:45 p.m. due to multiple lightning strikes in the area pregame.
Just before play was stopped, junior Hannah McKeon scored off a penalty corner, with help from Georgia Beachley, to give the Tigers the lead. Unfortunately, the goal is not currently valid due to the game's abrupt ending.
Saturday's neutral site game between the Hoyas and Appalachian State, which was originally scheduled for 2 p.m., has been moved to 11 a.m.
Towson will see the pitch on Sunday against the Mountaineers at 1 p.m.
