TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University football team has announced its captains for the upcoming 2021 season as the Tigers return to the field this weekend.
S.J. Brown II,
Aaron Grzymkowski,
Keyvone Bruton and
Chris Ferguson will be the Towson team captains for 2021. Captains are voted on by the players.
"Our captains have earned the respect of everyone on this team," said head coach
Rob Ambrose. "We have great leaders of this program; I'm very grateful we have this type of guys."
Brown moved to a starting role in 2019 in his first year with the team, tying for a team-high of 87 tackles at safety. He tied for 13
th in the league with 7.2 tackles a game, adding five passes defended and a pair of interceptions.
Grzymkowski is a two-time All-CAA guard, including Second Team in 2019. He has started all 24 games the past two seasons, blocking for an offense which has averaged over 30 points a game in those years.
Bruton is in his first season with Towson after playing four years with Temple University. A member of the defense and special teams, the 2018 AAC All-Academic Team member finished with 18 tackles and three passes broken up.
Ferguson joins Towson for his first season after three years at Maine and another at Liberty. In 34 career games, he has passed for 6,288 career yards and 50 passing touchdowns, standing with 515 career completions.
Towson begins the 2021 season with The Battle for Greater Baltimore at Morgan State on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.
